The kind of weather that makes you want to walk has finally arrived.
Coats are lighter, so your steps are too. Did you know Mangrove Sinseol, Dongdaemun, and Sinchon all sit close to some of Seoul's best cherry blossom spots? Here's our guide to the prettiest, petal-pink walks around our buildings.

Seongbukcheon Walking Path

A playground for neighborhood dogs, Seongbukcheon

Five minutes from Mangrove Sinseol and there it is: Seongbukcheon. Follow the stream toward Bomun Station for about ten minutes and you'll walk straight into a tunnel of cherry blossoms in full bloom.

Along the way to the blossom path, you'll pass schools and kindergartens full of kids' laughter, parks, and rows of cozy houses. If you're lucky, you might run into some seriously good-looking dogs out on their own walk.

Flower viewing always calls for a coffee. Seongbukcheon has its share of cafes that feel both familiar and fresh. Pick whichever one catches your eye and step in.

What If a Spaceship Bloomed with Cherry Blossoms? Dongdaemun Design Plaza

Cross just two crosswalks from Mangrove Dongdaemun and you're at one of Seoul's landmark buildings, a spot where you're as likely to hear a foreign language as Korean.

Take a slow loop around the building's sci-fi spaceship curves and you've got yourself a relaxed cherry blossom walk.

Go all the way around and you'll also run into the historic park where a stretch of the old Seoul city wall still stands.

Wide benches make for a good spot to sit and catch your breath.

Pyeonghwa Market, Wrapped in the City's Many Colors

Right next to DDP sits Pyeonghwa Market, a clothing market that's been part of this neighborhood for decades, always busy with merchants and visitors.

Between the rows of colorful signs and stalls, a flowering tree pops up here and there, perfect for a photo you didn't plan on taking.

Cheonggyecheon, Where Even the Herons Stop By

Walk out of Pyeonghwa Market's alleys toward Dongdaemun Station and Cheonggyecheon opens up, cutting clean through the city center. Keep an eye out for herons hunting for fish along the water.

Follow Cheonggyecheon a little further toward Gwanghwamun and you'll hit Gwangjang Market, famous for its street food. If you're hungry by then, this is the place to stop.

An Old Rail Line, Now Tucked Under a Blanket of Petals: Gyeongui Line Forest Park

Gyeongui Line Forest Park is a three minute walk from the entrance of Mangrove Sinchon. Practically next door. It's a park built over the old, abandoned Yongsan rail line, running from Yeonnam-dong to Wonhyoro, now reborn as a green walking trail.

The restaurants and cafes lining the path are worth a wander on their own. If you want to clear your head with no particular destination in mind, you won't find a better place to do it.
