Under one roof where diverse people live harmoniously, Mangrove is bustling with preparations for a new location. Following Sungin and Sinseol, Mangrove Dongdaemun is the third new residence set to open. It's a large-scale renovation project for a 15-story building that will house 177 households, and it is progressing towards completion after careful planning and preparation by various experts.

Seeing the raw structure of a building cluttered with exposed concrete and construction materials is always unfamiliar, but it's also something to look forward to. Through the Sungin and Sinseol locations, Mangrove experienced transforming ordinary buildings into rich living spaces for individuals, warming them with a sense of community.

In May, when the chill of the construction site still lingered, artist Penking joined the transformation of the new Mangrove Dongdaemun space.

With historical and cultural landmarks like Gwanghuimun and DDP, along with traditional markets like Jeil Pyeonghwa Market and Tongil Market, and areas such as Central Asian Street and Fashion Street, Mangrove Dongdaemun's message ‘Embrace All Colors’ was reinterpreted through artist Penking's artwork and spread across the empty walls.

Hello, I'm Leechungjin, leaving traces under the name Penking.

As I watched the traces left by others who inspired me,

I found myself thinking, 'I want to do that too' and 'I need to do something like this.'

That's why I started leaving my own traces, unable to let these thoughts remain just thoughts.

Artist Penking incorporated the message of ‘Embrace All Colors’ into the colorful Gate behind the bars. Through artwork that captured the vibrant spirit of Mangrove House in Dongdaemun, filled with dynamic urban life and unique neighbors’ stories, Mangrove now opens the doors to a new beginning.

“In Mangrove, people from various backgrounds gather with their own stories. You might feel anxious or excited about how different the person living next to you is. But ultimately, as these distinct people pass through the doors of Mangrove to experience new environments and inspire each other, I felt that the unique vibe and color of Mangrove emerged.”
